NCAA

What is NCAA?

The National Collegiate Athletic Association is a member-led organization dedicated to the well-being and lifelong success of college athletes. Nearly half a million college athletes make up the 19,886 teams that send more than 57,661 participants to compete each year in the NCAA’s 90 championships in 24 sports across 3 divisions.

Students wanting to compete in the NCAA Div. I or Div. II need a GPA of 2.3 or higher and need to be taking 16 core classes. Usually, this means another science during senior year. NCAA only counts core classes for the required GPA. (2.3 or higher) Students also need to score a minimum of 19 on the ACT and 950 on the SAT.

COVID-19 Automatic Waiver 2021-22 Enrollment

Given the continuing impact of COVID-19 on the educational environment, the NCAA Eligibility Center has partnered with the NCAA membership to identify the following changes to the initial-eligibility certification process for students who initially enroll full time in a collegiate institution during the 2021-22 academic year.

The Eligibility Center will continue to monitor the environment and make necessary adjustments to prioritize health, safety, and fairness for all college-bound student-athletes. Click here to hear Felicia Martin, Vice President of the Eligibility Center, talk about the initial-eligibility requirements for the 2021-22 academic year.
