First JROTC Newsletter of the year!!!
3 days ago, AFJOTRC
A high school JROTC newsletter flyer titled "NEWSLETTER" with the subtitle "AHS JROTC all YOU need to know" and the date "9-04-26" written across three light blue star graphics at the top. The left side features a "Welcome" panel in a light blue box with a gold star, reading: "Welcome new cadets, our fellow high schoolers, and teachers! We are so excited to jump in the school year!" The right side features a photo of two male cadets in dark blue military uniforms making funny faces, with a yellow caption banner below reading "Meet the dynamic duo." The bottom section is titled "All Call" and features a photo of students gathered in a cafeteria on the left, a black silhouette of a jet plane in the center with the vertical text "AYNTK", and a photo of a cadet gesturing while speaking at a wooden podium on the right.
An informational flyer titled "Honor Guard" in large white letters at the top, superimposed over three gold stars.Below the title, a photo on the left shows four JROTC cadets marching outdoors in light blue and dark blue uniforms, carrying rifles and flags during a ceremony. To the right of the photo is a stylized varsity letter "A" above a quote from C/1Lt Rivera, Honor Guard Commander, which reads: "Honor Guard is fun; fun is honor guard."A horizontal dotted line with a black jet silhouette separates the top and bottom sections. Dear APS Middle & High School Families,

As our athletic season continues, we want to thank you for the wonderful support and positive sportsmanship you show for our student-athletes. Your role in the stands and on the sidelines sets a powerful example for our teams and represents the best of our community.

To help ensure our games remain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone, please review a brief message from our Athletic Director, Alan Edmonson. The letter highlights the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) "2-Strike" rule regarding spectator conduct and provides helpful tips on supporting your student-athlete through challenges.

PDF Version: https://aptg.co/kGSPxc

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and for modeling character and respect for our young athletes.

Dear APS Family, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank each of you for the outstanding support, behavior, and sportsmanship you have demonstrated throughout this young season. Our athletes notice how we conduct ourselves in the stands, on the sidelines, and in the community. Your positive example helps create an environment where our athletes can compete with confidence and respect. We are fortunate to have families and fans who understand that high school athletics are an opportunity to teach character, accountability, teamwork, and how to handle both success and adversity. These positive interactions and behavior have been noticed by representatives from other communities. You may have recently seen a social media post complimenting the behavior and sportsmanship from the AHS football program at a recent away game. These serve as a reminder that others are always watching, taking note, and appreciating the culture we have in Alamogordo. A Reminder About the NMAA โ€œ2-Strikeโ€ Rule Please remember that the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) expects appropriate conduct from everyone involved in our athletic events. This includes athletes, coaches, parents, and spectators. As you may have seen through news stories and social media, there have been incidents in other parts of the state where the NMAA has had to levy sanctions against schools for both fan and athlete behavior. The NMAAโ€™s โ€œ2-strikeโ€ rule is an important reminder that inappropriate behavior toward officials, opponents, coaches, athletes, or other spectators can have consequences. We ask everyone to help us avoid situations that could result in disciplinary action for our programs and schools. Please remember: โ— Officials are doing a difficult job and deserve our respect. โ— Coaches should be allowed to coach without interference from the stands. โ— Opposing athletes and families deserve the same respect we expect for our own. โ— Disagreements should never become personal, confrontational, or disrespectful. โ— If emotions are high, step away and allow time to cool down. โ— Our athletes should never feel that they have to defend a parent, coach, teammate, or themselves through verbal or physical confrontation.
Parents play an incredibly important role in teaching athletes how to handle conflict both on and off the field. When your athlete comes home frustrated about a teammate, coach, official, opponent, or situation at school, consider using the moment as an opportunity to teach problem-solving. A few questions can help: โ— โ€œWhat happened from your perspective?โ€ Encourage your athlete to explain the situation before jumping to conclusions. โ— โ€œWhat part of the situation can you control?โ€ Help them focus on their own actions and responses. โ— โ€œDid you communicate directly and respectfully?โ€ Whenever appropriate, athletes should learn to address issues with the person involved rather than allowing frustration to build. โ— โ€œWhat could you do differently next time?โ€ Mistakes and conflicts can become valuable learning experiences. โ— โ€œIs this something that needs an adultโ€™s help?โ€ Encourage athletes to solve appropriate problems independently, while recognizing when a coach or school administrator should become involved. Thank you for continued support of our athletes and our APS athletic programs. The example we set as adults becomes part of what our young people carry with them long after their playing days are over. Thank you for being such an important part of the Tiger Athletic Team! SIncerely, Alan Edmonson APS Director of Athletics

๐Ÿ“ขAPS Drop-Off/Pick-Up Lane Reminder!

To help keep traffic moving, we ask that parents/guardians using the drop-off/pick-up lane remain in their vehicles. If you need to get out of your car with your student, please park in a designated parking spot rather than stopping in the drop-off/pick-up lane. For the safety of all students, please ensure your student always exits/enters the vehicle on the sidewalk side. This is essential to prevent students from stepping into traffic or active driving lanes. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš˜

Thank you for helping us keep our drop-off/pick-up routine safe and efficient!๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿฅฐ
